Summary of Financial note

14. It is again to be emphasized that there is as yet no adequate basis for an estimate. The following figures merely aim at giving an idea of the order of the expenditure in which the "blue-print" would involve the University.

(i) In estimating the cost of sal cries of

professors the differentiation between medical and other professors in the Irvine Report has not been followed.

If it were, the total under Salaries would be increased by £4,500 a year.

(ii) If a very desirable complete rebuilding

of the University were undertaken the charges for buildings would be increased seven-fold.

(iii) If, as in the West Indies Report, basic

professorships were endowed by

H.M. Government, the relation of non- recurring and recurring charges would be widely altered.
